How should I wear my hair with this dress?

I'm not sure what kind of hairstyle would best suit this dress.

This is the same style dress as mine, but my dress is diamond white (which looks much better in my opinion) and the beading is more of a silver color. I would prefer to wear my hair down, but I'm not sure if it would look right. Up, down, or a mix of the two?

Also, we're considering having the ceremony on the beach. Does this look like a beach dress? How should I wear my hair with this dress?

This should help, ask other brides what they think, it may be easier to get another brides opionon. By going to the website that I gave you, is similar to yahoo Answers but for brides. How should I wear my hair with this dress?
Because its big at the bottom, you should find some pretty ways to wear it down, and give it volume with waves or curls.
mix of up and down, curls, and it does look like a beach dress.
Get it cut really short, or wear a ponytail and let your bangs hang down
Where it down with the front pulled back away from your face, in beautiful soft curls. Some ideas:

Personally, I like #4 best, with little flowers hidden in the curls.

What good paying jobs allow you to be yourself?

Okay so I'm only 15 right now and I was having an argument with my mom. She was arguing with me because I didn't want to dress like a ';normal'; guy. So I guess a way to describe the way I dress as ';emo';. Like I wear a lot of black and white and I LOVE band t-shirts. I'm also getting some piercings when I'm 15 and I have long straightened hair. My mom wants me to dress boring and ';normal'; ( for my mom, the standard dress style would just be blue jeans, striped polos and short, back-combed hair) she also says that I'm gonna have to change COMPLETELY if I end up working in an office or something like that. Well I like being a fun person and I DON'T want to seem boring as an adult. I don't want to completely blend in with EVERYONE around me. So how can I have a good-paying job and still be myself? (like acting fun, not wearing uniform, you know-actually ENJOYING life)What good paying jobs allow you to be yourself?
I'm not trying to be mean, but aren't you judging adults like your mom judges you? Life isn't going to be perfect. You are still young and a baby by many standards. You really should do exactly what your aiming for...

Enjoy life but work hard so that someday you can be the master of your own destiny. In 4 years your life is yours. You don't want to be a lazy bum cause 90% of the time they live in mommy's basement till they're 30.

The only thing I hope you realize is this..not everyone knows what they are talking about.

Take care. What good paying jobs allow you to be yourself?
Well, you could be one of the lucky few who become a rock star. As for real jobs, you have to go with the flow. Most jobs have a uniform, or at least a dress code. You want good pay and total freedom, but these two don't go together. You see, if you are going to be on someone else's time (a paid employee) they are going to expect certain behavior out of you. For my job in security, I wear a uniform, similar to the one I used to wear in corrections. When I was a teacher, I had to wear a button down shirt and tie. When I got home from work, I would put on a ratty t-shirt and slap some Zeppelin in the player. Just come to grips with reality, your work life and your private life are going to be two separate things. People will know which one you are living by the way you are dressed.
Everyone seems to forget truck driver. Some companies have a uniform policy, but not most. They don't care how you dress as long as you deliver the load on time. But you ain't gonna be able to hang out with your friends and ';have fun'; because you'll be on the road most of the time. But talk about freedom! No one looking over my shoulder. I can take a break any time I want. If I get tired, I just pull it over and take a nap. As long as I get there on time and safe, no one cares what I look like. Don't believe me? Just go to a truck stop sometime and look at all the creepy, nasty looking freaks that walk through there. Yikes!
First of all, you could start your own business, that way you determine the dress code, set your own hours, and you get to enjoy your life to the fullest since you never have to answer to a boss.

There are plenty of high paying and some very respectable jobs that you could do while still maintaining your integrity. You could be a radio host, a dj, a cameraman, a professional photographer, a graphic designer, an art teacher, a writer/journalist, party/events planner... There are plenty of jobs that don't require you to wear a uniform, you just have to search for them.
I have some friends in England who are alternative....... with tattoos and wild hair, multi-colored dreadlocks and such..... the woman works in the fashion industry (the fashion shop is mainstream actually, but her personal designs that she does for fun are not mainstream)... and the man is going to work in a warehouse.

Options are definitely more limited when you look different.

Can you tell someone is racist by their appearance?

Like, do many racists have a certain look to them or certain dress style/features (with the exception of the pillow sheets used by the KKK lol, I'm talking about everydaywear).

I was in a pretzel place today with my friend and there was a guy with bald head, tattooed all over his body, dressed very trailer park-ish and he was giving us and everyone else really bad, hateful looks except for the white girl cashier (who was the only other white person there).

Do white racists tend to be bald, dress in American Chopper style wear, have a lot of tattoos and wear that ';tough guy'; look on their face? And do black racists usually wear dreadlocks (because I know most blacks who are hateful I've come across wear dreadlocks and the red, yellow, and green flag bracelets and have a lot of attitude).

I can't tell with hispanic and asian racists though. What's your take? Can you tell if someone is racist by how they look? Can you tell someone is racist by their appearance?
LOL, angry look. Everything has a stereotype in America!

Sometimes its just intuition. Sometimes its experience. You can never really know unless you see, and you could always be wrong. Can you tell someone is racist by their appearance?
I think that common sense can sometimes allow one to correctly perceive an individuals character. As one Adept said ';Know them by their fruits';, what kind of ';fruits'; are they presenting of themselves?

On the other hand I recall once meeting a thoroughly well educated, polite and immaculately dressed individual at University. He was more than nice to me and we had a very pleasant conversation though I knew there was something not quite ';right'; about him. It was not until afterwards that I learned he was a supporter of Combat 18, an exceptionally militant neo-Nazi group in the UK.
I don't think so, however in the UK, there are a group of neo-nazi skinheads who shave their heads and have distinct tattoos on themselves which allow others to recognize them. However, not all skin heads are racists, actually, there is a group called skinheads against racism.

Black racists?

A racist is racist, weather your black white green or blue, still a racist.

You cant judge people purely by appearance, its simply impossible.

You must know someone to understand what their ethics and opinions on things are.

Be careful, you can never successfully judge a book by its cover!
NO. You judge a book by its cover. You are putting yourself at a disadvantage.
No! definitively NO! It's impossible to say that somebody could be ';racist'; just for ';how he or she looks';

Exist something called ';prejudge'; and only prejudging you'll guess ';the truth'; but (even using your right to prejudge) that will be AFTER you have a dialog with ';the suspect'; NEVER before!

When I came to this country for the first time remember I saw just ';racist faces'; everywhere, but now I've had the fortune to find just friendly people and when I've found some ';racist guy'; I've known that just after to talk with she or he

Suppose the answer was yes, all white racists wear Doc Marten's %26amp; all black racists wear t-shirts with pictures of Malcom X %26amp; all Mexican racists wear Ben Davis %26amp; Dickies....what then?

What good comes of trying to boil all of them down into a stereotype? I mean isn't' that what ';THEY';------%26gt; do? There are a few racists you can easily pick out in the crowd like when the Grand Wizard making an appearance on the Maury Povich show or something, but mostly they look just like me, you, your mom, %26amp; my neighbor. Racism has become more subtle than it was in past generations.

In this day %26amp; age you can't typically tell if somebody is racist just by how they look but you can tell if somebody is prone to prejudices by how they sound. Think BEFORE you speak.
People always think I am racist of a nazi, because I shave my head, I always wear Dickies work pants, white or black t-shirts, and work boots. I always look pissed off all the time, and I have very white skin. I always get dirty looks by black people.

How far should someone walk with dress shoes outside?

I have nice pumps, some with flat wooden soles (like men's dress shoes). Can I wear them outside. How far should I walk outside. I see men wearing dress shoes outside on the sidewalk. The thing is I feel comfortable in dress shoes. I can walk 10 miles a day in them but the shoes themselves can't withstand that kind of abuse. I pretty much walk everywhere. Everyone else's shoes seem to last longer than mine. I never wear pants, only vintage and vintage style dresses. How much should I walk in order not to ruin my shoes? Shoes typically last me about 2 months if I walk 5-10 miles a dayHow far should someone walk with dress shoes outside?
Just get shoes with better quality! If you walk 10 miles a day- keep that. It's healty. Get new ones. Or only walk 0-4miles

Where do classy men go?

I am 26 years old smart woman who knows how to love and respect and be respected. I am kind of a tradition person and serious person but for some reason i get attracted only to wrong guys. i know what i want which is a classy men with a hard working attitude, dressing style, and who knows how to respect and treat a lady and just wondering where should i look for this type of a man who has a class, quality and ready for serious things. Where do usually business guys go to hang out, or for coffee, or how they spend their free time and where do they like to go? Will appreciate all ur comments, advices, and suggestions. Thank you all.Where do classy men go?
To meet a ';classy'; man, a woman must be, or at least pretend to be, a ';classy'; lady. Carry yourself erect, exude an air of confidence, tastefully dressing. Maintain an aura of sensuality without being overtly sexual. Men gravitate to women who exhibit a ';comfortableness'; with themselves. They also appreciate a woman who can knows something about sports--baseball, football, boxing, soccer, race cars.

';Classy'; men don't just ';hang out'; looking for ';classy'; women. They ';hang out'; looking for a ';score';. ';Classy';'; women attract ';classy ';men.Where do classy men go?
if you look hot, they will find you.
Classy men stay home and read. They tend to meet their ladies in laundrymats or Church. A great way to show a man that you deserve a classy one is to not be on the prowl for one. Haven't you heard? As soon as you quit looking, they come out of the woodwork.

  • Ladies, please advise me I have premature wrinkles its ruining my self esteem?

I was a good looking, very stylish guy with good looks and my main feature were my young good looks.

What happened over this last year I was suffering from chronic stress and developed 3 clear wrinkles going straight across my forehead. I am not into cosmetics and don't really want to be.

Now I look 10 years older then I am because of them even though the rest of my face is intact. Girls and guys say I have a very cool dress sense from general to smart to athletic etc. These wrinkles make my usual dress style feel inapropriate e.g. a hoody doesn't go well with a man with wrinkles. I feel like they are ruining me.

I used to be very confident with women because I knew I had the face, style, good guy, good job etc but now I think my face and style are not good features. As you can see this thing is damaging me quite badly.

Basically forhead wrinkles completely take the youthful look out of you regardless of how fit you are etc.

I don't care what men think so ladies can you give me any honest words which will encourage me to approach you. If you wouldn't like somebody with forehead wrinkles please say so It'll save a lot of people time.

    Please advise. Thank you

Ladies, please advise me I have premature wrinkles its ruining my self esteem?
I dont think the minor wrinkles are a problem, but if you're worried about it ill try to help you out.

I seriously, seriously think you should use wrinkle cream, i know you arent into cosmetics but no one has to know---plus, sometimes, with cases like yours, it HONESTLY works. If you want to get rid of them really badly, then do this.

Also, try not to be as stressed or to wrinkle or face or anything.

Dont be so self conscious, im sure less people are noticing than you think. :)Ladies, please advise me I have premature wrinkles its ruining my self esteem?
Hey, have you ever heard ';It's what's on the inside that counts';?

You sound like a cool person. Don't let a few wrinkles get in your way.

I'd rather go out with guy with an amazing heart and wrinkles than a shallow guy with a ken-doll face.

    Your funny
you must know that there are lots of factors that can rob moisture out of your skin like humidity, dry air and too much exposure to cold and hot weather. you can combat dry skin using an all natural skin care product to keep the skin moist all dry.

what can play a role in keeping the skin look young and healthy are good nutrition and proper diet as well as healthy habits. plus compliment with enough rest and sleep as well as, exercise and relaxation.

also, beat stress by knowing some stress reduction techniques. stress can also cause premature skin aging and wrinkles.

better quit smoking and alcohol drinking for these can not only cause dry skin but skin aging as well. visit http://www.trustedhealthproducts.com for more tips about good skin care.

Those wrinkles bother you, they don't bother women.

Your forehead will not put women off you.

Everyone has something that they hate on themselves. They're probably there to stay, unless you fancy a big sweeping type fringe then accept them.

There is nothing more attractive then a self assured gent. Just don't obsess.
    Looks aren't everything.

Having bad confidence is more of a turn off than 3 minor wrinkles.

Try growing the front of your hair longer so it comes above your eyebrows, ask your hairdresser for help with this.

And if you're up for it, moisturize every morning.

    Hope this helps :]
There are so many treatments for premature wrinkles - from creams to botox injections. And remember, you're not alone. Everyone will get wrinkles at some point in their lives.
I suggest Botex. Or at Kohl's beauty dept there is a cream called tri-aktiline that fills wrinkles.
For god sake, you think 3 heavy wrinkles is gonna put a woman off! we are not all as shallow as you appear to be.
    1. YOU COULD GET THEM FILLED IN $$$$

    2. REMEMBER LOOKS FADE WITH AGE/STRESS

    3. ITS WHAT INSIDE THAT IS IMPROTANT

    4. THEY ARE NOT UGLY SCARS

    5. ITS THE BRAIN THT I AM ATTRACTED TO NOT THE SHELL

6.GO SEE A DERMATOLOGIST - FOR HELP TO REDUCE APPEARANCE WITH CREAMS THAT WORK.
a little wrinkle on forehead is nothing; as long as u have your health, then u r OK.
wear sun block everyday, so they won't get worse. if someone likes you they won't care about something like that.

You sound like me 2 months ago. I signed up for theknot.com and browsed their pictures for ideas. There are real wedding pics and you can search by color. I also narrowed it down by listing the colors I didn't want. Davids bridal has a large range of dress styles to look at. You can also ask your bridesmaids what they like and for color suggestions.
You can't go wrong with a little black dress then add in a light color to match your wedding.

Target.com has some really nice, contemporary attractive dresses in there bridal section and the shocking thing they are relatively inexpensive. And they will have a dress that they can use more than once and not just collect dust in the closet. That's even a bonus.
Try AlfredAngelo.com. You can see all the dresses and change the colors on them to see what they would look like on an actual person. Some models have brown hair, some blonde, fair skin, etc- so you can pick a good color. They have many dresses to look at so even if you don't pick one of theirs, you still have an idea of what you are looking for.
    http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_

I had my bridesmaids try on a ton of different dresses and this one is defenitly the best! It goes well with every shape and every color and the color is PERFECT!! The dress looks even better in person. You should go with this one, I did!
colors I can't help you with but as for the dresses I think its good to have all the girls in the same color but let the dress fit them and there style so everyone will have a different dress but same color and material. try david's bridal
sorry to say- have you and your girls or just MOH if they are of the same shape go to a bridal shop and just try stuff on you see and like..looking at photos online will drive you nuts and you will find one you like..:) have fun...
Think pastels. Like light blues, pinks, or greens. Mint or sage.

As far as style think to the body types of your bridesmaids. Whats something that everyone would like and feel comfortable wearing? (comfort is important, imo)

http://www.cbslimited.com/bridesmaid-dre I think styles like any of these are pretty and flattering to most people.
Choose nice light summery colors, like light yellow and light pink, or light purple and white, or maybe robins egg blue. Most bridesmaids perfer long dress', but maybe yours wouldnt mind knee length or something summery, try www.davidsbridal.com. Have you chose a flower to do? How about daisies, because they are so summery. Or do you like sunflowers? They have so much for sunflower decorations and you could do everything else in a light yellow. Have yellow table runners and lots of silk sunflower bouquets and garlands...
Just go with a simple cocktail dress. Strapless, knee-length or tea-length. Black would be best if you want your brides maids to be able to wear them again, but maybe sit down with them and brainstorm a colour together.

You could also just pick a colour you like and have each girl pick a different style dress that will look best on them. Get them hemmed all the same length (like just below-the-knee) but then they can pick if they are strapless, v-neck, etc. Because they are all the same colour they will look like brides maid/matching, but each girl will have what looks best on them.
if you want your bridesmaids to be just as beautiful i would get their input on what they like and are comfortable wearing. i was married last june and knew that i wanted them in a black dress...i got 3 of them to come with me to look one day and they picked one out...absolutely beautiful! it looked great on everyone and they were sizes 0 to 18!

how casual or dressy will the ceremony be? have you picked out your dress yet?

when i think of an outside wedding i think of a tea length dress.....just an idea.
This would be nice in carnation, tangerine, meadow...

*Something to think about - having a print. This one is nice, because it`s subtle, yet so pretty. My attendants had printed dresses for a July wedding. I hadn`t chosen a style or color til we went shopping, then they fell in love with a tealength dress with full skirt.

baby pink, mint green, baby yellow, baby blue...

that'll be lovely. with some glam jewellery and flowers.

www.weddingbycolor.com its an awesome site for ideas- good luck
i got married in the summer two years ago and it was outside also.

i chose the same dress for each girl, but in a different color, so my wedding colors were a big variety. i had different colors for flowers and dresses and bouquet ribbons. however, it didn't look like some crazy rainbow explosion, it was more of a vintage feel, all sorts of colors coming together to balance eachother out. Except, the dresses were quite modern so it didn't feel like an antique roadshow! it all depends on the hues and shades of colors you use.

ANYWAY, i truly recommend choosing dresses that the bridesmaids love and feel beautiful in. if THEY feel beautiful, they are going to do everything they can to make YOU feel beautiful. sorry, that's just how it is. my recommendation of some store websites to go that carry beautiful unique dresses at a variety of price ranges and a wide range of SIZES also, are:

    anthropologie

    jcrew

    nordstrom wedding shop

    GOOD LUCK!

p.s. you could even pick one color and have different shades of it. like dresses in different shades of pale blues, which always looks beautiful against green grass.
Here are some pretty, outside suitable and affordable (I'm sure your girls would appreciate that)

depends on the kind of person you are. if you are bright and fun-loving then I would try to match your personality. If I could do it again I would probably have hot pink, orange and white. sounds weird but it looks awesome at weddings. if your not quite up for that then try something like lilac or baby blue or a light pink. I also like mint green, pale yellow and white. the only colour I can say I really dont like for weddings is brown. I would go with a tea length dress for the brides maids. the style would depend on their body type.
I have read thru a lot of your answers already. I have a suggestion that might help. Choose a color...then allow the girls to find their own dress as long as it is that color.

My sister-n-law did this for her fall wedding last September and we all bought the dress we wanted as long as it was a fall color. So we were not all in the same dress or the same color for that matter, and it was a wonderful thing. We didn't have to come up with hundreds of dollars to buy the dress that was picked out at the bridal store.

    Hope that this helps.
I used this dress in kiwi. The color is very pretty... a soft, light green. It looked good on all of their figures and all of their skin tones (fair to very tan):

    http://www.morilee.com/DressDetail.aspx?

I received many compliments from many people about my choice of bridesmaid dress! These dresses do come small, so have your girls order a size or two up.

I used pinks, whites and green in my flowers.
I know exactly what you are going through. I am getting married next summer and I have decided on Hot Pink, tea length dresses. They are strapless and plain, this way they are a great dress but won't over-power my dress.
If your girls are all different builds, maybe try David's bridal where you can pick one colour, and maybe one skirt (Tea length would be pretty for summer outdoors) and have everyone choose a matching top they feel comfortable and pretty in.

I've also been in weddings where we actually just went to the mall and everyone tried on dresses from Macy's for example, that way you know they fit, dont have to fight about alterations, and you can see the group as a whole. Generally more cost effective, too!
My girls were in lilac and a sage green color. They looked beautiful. The colors look awesome together. They wore tea length halter dresses which was perfect since we got married in July. I told them they could wear whatever dress they wanted as long as it was in the right colors. They need to be comfortable, it's a long day! We got them at David's Bridal. However, one of my friends got her bridesmaids dresses at Deb's. They were white, tea length with little pink flowers at the bottom. They were very pretty also, but not many brides want other people in white on their wedding day. Good luck and let your girls have an input, it'll help out a lot!

I am getting married but i dont want a traditional dress?

i am 24yrs old and marrying my boyfriend but it is not going to be a big wedding, not a religious one with a virginal white dress and i don't want a big puffy prom style dress or one trailing on the floor. we are getting married sooner than we thought because we are from different countries and want to marry so we can be together in the same country (we do love each other very much, not a marriage of convenience!) i want an unusual dress. i dont want a white one. i like all different colours, im pale skinned with brown/dark blonde long curly hair and dark blue eyes, 5' 7'; average build, little on the curvy side. not sure how to describe my usual style. i like quirky things, sometimes a little hippyish and quite feminine. love nice patterns, materials and details like lace or beads. dont mind if its new or vintage. anyone think they could find a nice dress for me! ive been looking around and nothing has really jumped out at me yet. many thanks in advance :)I am getting married but i dont want a traditional dress?

What you need is someone design a dress for you. I am personally the same way when it comes to style. I can design something for you. Send me a e-mail at lapester@yahoo.com.Lizia.

Which sizing should I use when making a dress from a pattern?

I'm trying to make a dress using a pattern. The pattern is a Misses type robe-style dress, so exact sizing isn't that important I don't think. However, when I've come to measure myself I'm a 12 in the bust, 14 in the waist and 8 in the hips! I normally wear a size 8 (Australian) ready made clothes, but am a bit confused as to how to proceed with cutting out the pattern pieces here.

As I said, it's a robe style dress, so it wraps around and ties with a sash. So I take it that the most important places to fit are the shoulders and upper body, as the rest can be cinched in using the sash. My shoulders are skinny, so I don't think using a size 12 bodice is such a good idea. Is it possible to cut out say size 10 at the top of the bodice, but then go to a size 12/14 at the bottom of the bodice (the waist)?Which sizing should I use when making a dress from a pattern?
The very best way to figure this out, is to take the pattern piece for the front and lay it up against your body. Remember that you need to take the seam allowance into consideration when doing this measurement. Which size fits best under the arm and across the front? If its a robe - style dress, I wouldn't alter and of the other parts Just get the top to fit the rest will fall into place. Good luck!Which sizing should I use when making a dress from a pattern?
how many pattern pieces does the dress have? just front and back? or top front and back and bottom front and back? is it designed for a woven or a knit fabric? you can blend the lines using a felt tip marker on the pattern pieces from the 12 to the 14 for you waist to the 8 for your hips- having a curved ruler is ideal for this task. keep an eye on the darts during the process...they should stay on the princess lines if done traditionally. if in doubt, i'd make a quick muslin to see how it fits before you cut out your fashion fabric.

I need a complete new look! Help?

    I'm 15.

I'll start with my hair, I have just below shoulder length hair that is naturally wavy/curly, i have layers and a thick fringe. i usually just straighten or curl all of my hair, but I'm bored of it and want a more vintage sort of look, or like pixie lott's hair. i want to know how to pull this off with a step by step thing, that would be great. And a day time and a night time look

    Second, my dress style.

I usually wear jeans and a nice top or t-shirt, something like that

I want a complete new look that wouldnt cost too much, i like the big bag and lots of accessories look, and the floral dresses %26amp; i like vintage styles and i love boho styles that show off my (quite thin) figure but i dont know how to wear them or where to get them etc. or baggy t-shirts and cardigans.. i want as many looks as possible.. it would be greatly greatly appreciated, thank you xxI need a complete new look! Help?
TOMBOY HAIR ::: My friend has the same kind of hair as you think and wavy. try getting some lee stafford or any brand hair gel. you can go for the messed look by sweeping your fringe across and keeping your hair wavy.

IN THE MIDDLE you could get sections of your hair and twist back onto your head and grip. all the way around the front and then pull the rest of your hair to the side in a low side pony tail.

GIRLY: you could make a quiff with your fringe twist and grip. then either straighted your hair or put it up into a ponytail.

OR: keep it simple; curl it in little strands of hair and add a headband.

for your look it's hard to help. you need to express how you feel or how you want people to think you feel to your personality, maybe a big bag some leggings and a colourful top. add a long neclace some braclets from primark; boohoo; newlook and change it. different tops everyday maybe different accesories to how your feeling

    HOPE THIS HELPS

    (HTH)

Georgia xxI need a complete new look! Help?
I am also 15 and have recently had the same problem. However, i realized that my style was the so called ';sailor'; look. i think u might also like this as it consists od high-waist shorts, blazers and stripes which would e good for your figure. but if u dont like that idea then i think u should go for a daring look that includes shorts, waist belts, baggy checked shirts and for the night: sparkles, big earings and bracelets and floral dresses and skirts with a black blazer. And for your hair, if u have a full fringe then go for a side fringe. try to go for the pixie lott look and grow your hair a bit, leave it naturally wavy and tie it in a side ponytail. Just experiment with new looks until u find the one thats right for u. Hope i've helped :) x

Leave your hair the way it is, it looks better plus add a bump to it to get extra volume and let it grow out as well. As for clothes i usally shop a deliahs or forever 21 and see those the boho style there

My mom wants to pick her own dress for our wedding?

My mom went with me when I looked for my wedding dress. I ended up finding the dress I want and she put the 50% deposit down for me. Well, our wedding is in early November and she wants to wear a shorter cocktail-style dress. All of the other women in my family and my husband-to-be's will be wearing floor-length dresses, as we are having a black-tie ceremony and reception. How can I convince her that this is my day to stand out and get her to pick a longer dress? By the way, she is a pretty woman and looks fine in any type of dress, I just feel like she wants to stand out on the day that is supposed to be about my husband-to-be and me.

Note: I am not the type to have things be about me, I just want her to fit in with the rest of my family (my sister and my brother's wife -both her kids also) and also my future in-laws (mom and grandma).

**Oh and also, my fiance and I are paying for our wedding on our own.My mom wants to pick her own dress for our wedding?
Hmm... to be honest, I don't think it matters who is paying for the wedding. I'm sure she's paying for her own dress so as long as it's appropriate she should be able to wear what she wants (cause SHE IS the one wearing it!). I'm sure there are plenty of shorter dresses that will fit your formal theme fine. Why not make it another fun girls day out for dress shopping and let her get something she likes? Find something she wants that will also be formal, don't stress over something so small! Good luck!My mom wants to pick her own dress for our wedding?
Shorter dresses are considered semi-formal and aren't appropriate for a black-tie wedding. Send her this link :)
She needs to be at least the bridesmaids' level of formality. If they are wearing floor length, she too must wear floor length. She will stick out if she doesn't.

Just tell her you think it is inappropriate for her to wear a shorter dress because it's not formal enough. If she wants to stand out, help her pick out a stunning floor length gown...let her have a small train even :)
I think she is a grown woman and gets to wear whatever she wants....
Unless the wedding is taking place after 7PM it is informal no matter what color the ties are. Why don't you see if you can compromise. You pick several dresses in Waltz length or longer and ask her to choose. It would not be appropriate for her to appear in a ';cocktail'; length dress at your wedding no matter what time of day as she is now officially a ';Matron'; and is expected to dress like one at least on that day.
Well, the Mom does get to pick her own dress, she does not have to coordinate with the bridal party. She is the Mom of the bride, and the next most important person at the wedding, after the bride and groom.

Technically, the only person she owes anything to is the mother of the groom, and that is a phone call, to tell her what she will be wearing, so both do not wear the same dress, or clash in the pictures.

So as the mother of the bride she can stand out all she wants.

She put down the deposit on your dress, smile, say thanks, mention by name who SAYS they will be wearing a long dress, and leave it alone. And give her a big kiss for being so pretty, and making sure you have a pretty dress on your day. and buy her beautiful guest of honor flowers.

Honey, your Mom is not competition with you, just taking what is hers by right and due.

Now if her dress is white, that is another matter, she should not look bridal at anybody else's wedding.

And I looked up the definition of black tie in about fashion .com, and it says women may wear a long dress or a short cocktail dress or a pants set.

White tie is the ultra formal dress for men, and means the lady wears a long dress.

Your Mom is right, by etiquette rules, she can wear a short dress.
She can wear whatever she wants, she doesn't need to coordinate with anybody else. Maybe her legs are one of the last body parts she's comfortable with (for many women like me it's our cleavage!) and she wants to look pretty. If she lets you go shopping with her, do that, otherwise just make sure she's clear that the others will be wearing long dresses so she doesn't get caught off guard.
Let your mother wear whatever she wants, really your the bride and he's the groom you will be standing out no oone will take the spotlight for you maybe your mom doesnt like long dresses. Is like the show what not to wear when the bride mother in law to be wore a red dress and the wedding color were black and silver with white on new years LOL! she was upset but got over it and realized she was the bride and no matter what she stood out.
Your mother CAN wear a cocktail length dress to your wedding Hon, the only time floor length is required is white tie or very, very formal white tie %26amp; tails..and I don't think you're having that formal a 'to-do'......

...and rest asured, there will be quests wearing shorter dresses....she doen't hafta 'conform' to a certain length to 'match' her daughter, daughter in law, and the in-laws.....

...and someone wearing a shorter dress will not take any attention away from you, which is what this is really about.

    Good Luck.
Don't worry, no matter how she's dressed YOU will be the star of the show. Help her pick out a more subdued shorter dress maybe, and stop worrying. If she likes it and looks classy in it then she should WEAR it.... This is a big day for her too you know... And maybe she doesn want to look and feel Matronly... maybe she just wants to feel beautiful, you should be supportive, its not the dresses that matter on a wedding day.
you're right, black tie events should be floor length.

she may stand out if she wears a cocktail dress, but in my opinion it wouldn't be in a good way. She will look underdressed and inappropriate, not stunning. So don't worry abt her outshining you.
Does it really matter how long her dress is? You are still going to get married no matter what she is wearing and no matter who says it's inappropriate.

Sometimes I think etiquette goes to far. Put your priorities in order and pick your battles, this isn't one of them. Let her choose and move on to the next crisis I am sure there are more important things for you to worry about, and in the end nothing matter except exchanging vows with the one you love!
OMG your mum wants to choose her own dress???? the nerve of the woman, thinking she has the right to wear what she wants! honestly how do you put up with such nonsense!

it is not up to the bride to decide who wears what outside of the wedding party. let it go. she will either change her mind and find something else to wear or she won't. either way it isn't your problem.

btw you do want to be the center of attention otherwise you wouldn't be worrying about the length of your pretty mum's dress! grow up sweetie, this is such a minor issue that it isn't even worth worrying about!

and it doesn't matter whose paying for your wedding as far as this particular issue goes.
Explain that everyone is wearing long formal dresses and you would really appreciate if she would do the same. I can suggest some really good websites that she can see beautiful long MOB gowns that are chic and elegant. moncheribridals.com, alfredangelo.com, rinadimontella.com, netbride.com, nordstroms.com, dillards.com. motherofthebridedresses.biz, theeveningstore.com. The MOBdresses.biz website has every designer and the dresses are gorgeous. Show her these dresses, and maybe she will change her mind. Tell her that she will look stunning with a long gown with her beautiful figure and be the belle of the ball. I think she will change her mind after she sees these gowns.
She is a grown woman, and as long as she knows that the other women are wearing long dresses, she can make her own decision - it is her right to choose her own dress, just like you choose yours. She'll be fine %26amp; it will not ruin your wedding or anything. So relax and let the poor woman be
My mom is wearing a short cocktail dress...it cost the same as my gown...in the end I wouldn't be here without her and if anyone should look as good as I do that day it's my mother.

    Who cares who's paying?!

I just want her to feel awesome that day, maybe a long dress would make her uncomfortable.

Seems a bit low on the priority list.

    Prom Night-Fright NIGHTMARE!!!! (Everyone's Nightmare.)?

Just asking, lets say this group of bitchy girls who think they're all that come to the prom and glitzed up... then the absolute Bell of the Ball strolls in with the most beautiful dress and fugire, makeup and best date and real sparkling diamond tirara and jewels and even rhinestone shoes and costume butterfly wings. Her beauty, dress, style and grace make them (Who spent hundreds on their looks and dresses) look like homely cheap Dollar-Store dolls.

The group of girls get uber jealous and devise a plan. They are used to being the center of everything and getting everything they want. While the Bell of out for a dance, the girls follow her onto the floor and dump red grape drink all over her. She tries to run, but all the girls come from different angles, laughing at her, and pushing her forcefully back into the center of the floor. When she is totally drenched in red drink, they resort to pulling her hair style and tearing her dress. The wings are pretty much history and they broke the rental diamond tiara.

Her date tries to stop it, but the dates of the jealous girls hold him off (as part of the plan.)

Things get out of REALLY out of hand as the girls start slapping her and clawing her face. when she finally escapes the girls, she slips on some punch and hits her head on a sharp edge, knocking her out, causing concussion and little bleeding in the brain.

Can she sue the girls? Even though their parents belive their little angels dont deserve such punishment? How much can she sue them for?Prom Night-Fright NIGHTMARE!!!! (Everyone's Nightmare.)?
That sounds like Carrie. Instead with grape juice instead of pig blood. She should have torched the place like in the movie.Prom Night-Fright NIGHTMARE!!!! (Everyone's Nightmare.)?
Let me get a hit off that bong.
uh wow that sound bad i bet she could sue alot the did hurt the girl so id say a bunch
your azz is going to be homeless if you were involved
i agree with the person above me.
What I want to is...Where were the freakin' adult chaperons?!

Are there any balanced non-denominational Bible teaching Churches with diversity near chicago North Burbs?

I'm praying for the Lord to direct me to a God Fearing Church in Illinois. Most of the churches I've come across are very cold, dogmatic, and superficial, or they are so liberal, that scriptures are twisted to fill the church and attract members.

    OR

The Churches are very cliquish, in the sense that they lack diversity. So you must fit a certain ethnic group, dress style, or income bracket to be accepted. I'd prefer a non-denominational Church which stresses the teaching of God's Word, but I'm open to denominations if they follow ALL of God's Word(haven't found any yet).

No Word of Faith, or other prosperity led churches, that teach Christians that God is to be ';used'; for our purposes. I'm willing to pass mega and/or popular churches to find a Bible Based church. I don't care what the church looks like, or how many members it has....only that it's in agreement with scripture and the Lord.

I'm near the Northwest Suburbs, but open to areas that are far North or West. Thanks. Are there any balanced non-denominational Bible teaching Churches with diversity near chicago North Burbs?
Try looking into some of the LC-MS (Lutheran Church Missouri Synod) congregations in your area. I can't promise the people there won't have all the faults you mention, because unfortunately the church is made up of humans and we are a sin full bunch. Are there any balanced non-denominational Bible teaching Churches with diversity near chicago North Burbs?
Welcome to the New Testament apostate church of the end times. Seriously it is really difficult any more to find a good church like you are talking about. I know there are several Brethren Assemblies in your area. They are very strong on Bible teaching but they always keep their churches very small. If they get more than a couple of hundred people they will set up a second church rather than become too big and lose the personal touch. If Interested their Bible College is in the west of Chicago, called Emmaus Bible College. They could tell you where all the churches are located.
I recommend trying an Evangelical Free Church. This is a denomination of 1300 churches, with a number of locations in Northern IL. They have a similar feel to many nondenominational churches. http://www.efca.org/about/ I think they meet all the points of interest you listed. In my observation, they are very welcoming to people of diverse backgrounds.

I am not sure that I catch all of what you mean by ';I'm open to denominations if they follow ALL of God's Word(haven't found any yet).'; I know that EV Free pastors are taught to preach the entire scriptures...

EV Free Churches vary somewhat, so you might want to visit a few. For instance, some may have ';seeker'; style Sunday morning services, but most don't.

I would describe their theology as compatable with Billy Graham's. They are not bound by old traditions as some old denominations are, however, they are respectful of traditions and are informed by them. An Ev Free seminary is located in Deerfield IL.

I'm not a member and don't regularly attend an Ev Free church. However, I do visit them when travelling and think they are wonderful.
You want a church that teaches all the Bible? What do you want taught in all the bible? There are many churches that will accommodate you. They will teach:

Don’t be like Adam who took and eat what was not his. Be like Able who offered a better sacrifice then Cain. Be like Abraham who believed God. Be like David who was a man after God’s own heart and who slew Goliath.

Most of what you get out there is law (Do this and you shall live). I was searching for the same thing but I was shown that all of scripture are not life lessons for “Christian living” but all the scriptures spoke of Jesus as He said You search the scriptures because you think in them you find life but these are they which testify of me.. He is the substance of all that was hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. All the promises find their yes and amen in Him. He is the author and finisher of our faith. Most importantly He is given to us. It is the Fathers good pleasure to give you the kingdom. He is Given to us in specific base elements. Really given, not just some understanding comprehended where we finely “Get it”. Really and truly He is for us where the Father has placed Him. Just as the servant of the Prophet told Namann go dunk in the Jordan; no other river would do. It may all seem the same but God had placed His word in that water. Not in the understanding or mere comprehension of a concept or idea but in physical tangible and very wet water.

So I would say “Be like” The woman with the issue of blood who violently made her way through the multitude of clickish hypocrites, doctrinal zealots, liberal nuts and all the other sinners to get where Christ was and even if, like her you get just the hem of is garb you can you have not a part but the whole Christ when you think your just getting crumbs you find He gives you the whole loaf (Manna).

So where has God placed Him for us? In the preaching of the Gospel, In the Bread and Wine of the communion table and in the Water of baptism, here Christ is given to you. So many say the same thing as those in the wilderness who were given the manna from heaven, which was a type of the true manna, “Our soul loathes this worthless bread “ and so God gives them (and us) what we want, meat. But this “meat” makes sick and kills many who eat it. That’s what we have today churches of quail.

I would agree with a previous poster who pointed you to a LCMS Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Try many out they are not all the same but in many Christ is preached and given in both Word and Sacrament

    Good link

    Bridesmaid hairstyle?

Hey y'all! I am going to be a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding this summer. His fiance said she doesn't care how our hair is done. But she isn't doing anything big with hers... What are some good hairstyles I can do that won't outshine her? Just something simple. Here is our dress style.

    http://davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_deta

It is in the Peri with a champagne sash and peek a boo skirt. Pictures would be best please!Bridesmaid hairstyle?
Its a simple dress so why not a simple style. Wear your hair down or a low ponytail pulled to oneside. If you don't want to out do her (and she seems like she isn't doing much) than something EXTREMLY simple is best

    http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2007/spBridesmaid hairstyle?
try to buy a hairstyles magazine and take a look at the different styles they have in there then go from there
Oscar night Cameron Diaz's hair style was really cute.

Very flattering, fun and classy. So was Heidi Clum's.

Love the dress by the way.
Looks like a very simple style of dress so you certainly dont want a big fussy prom style updo. You dont say if your hair is long or short, straight or curly. If you have a hairdresser that you regularly go to, she would be the best guide. The salon should have books of hairstyles that you can choose from. If you see a flattering style on a celebrity that you feel might look good, take the picture with you to get the stylist's opinion.
I would say something you'd be comfortable in.
why not do ur hair like the girl in your picture? it goes good with the dress and definitely won't outshine her. good luck!
Do the opposite of what the bride does. If hers is up yours should be down... This way you dont draw atention away.

Youre right to keep it simple. I would say no to curls and waves too! Maybe a nice classy looking ponytail??

    Bridesmaid dress with chest defornity?

I have pectus excavatum severely bad. I hide it very well, most people don't know I have it. I've told most of my friends about it, but they still don't understand how badly it effects what I wear ect. My friend recently asked me to be in her wedding. I am so excited and I feel priveledged, but the dress is a strapless tube style dress. Anyone w. pectus knows this isn't going to stay up, and you'll be able to see straight down it. I know a few tricks I'm gonna try to make it work. Anyone else have this dissorder and can make a dress like this work? What do you suggest. I'm assuming I wont get too many answers for this one, but I thought I'd try.Bridesmaid dress with chest defornity?
Actresses use double sided sticky tape to hold their revealing garments in place, keeping them from being too revealing. I don't know how heavy the dress is, maybe the bride can make an exception and allow you to wear a similar dress with straps.

Also, ask in the Beauty and Style section. They may have ideas and know where to get what you need, like the sticky tape.Bridesmaid dress with chest defornity?
Have fun at the wedding! I bet you'll be lovely!

You can get the sticky tape at fabric stores.

Hay, I have a double mastectomy. Can you afford to buy a mastectomy bra? Mastectomy bras have pockets that you can insert gel like breast things in them.

Or is that what pectus excavatum is like?

    Good luck.
How about the clear plastic bra straps.(JC Penneys)Maybe they can be sewn in to hold the dress up? Sorry.
Have you talked to the bride yet? Maybe you can add thin straps(I've seen clear ones on bras that would be less noticeable) and a wrap to go around your shoulders and gather in the front

I had to do an essay on my ideal husband and I need help revising? can you help?

    A Fairy Tale Husband

Imagine walking down the aisle to get married. You are dressed in an elegant flowing white dress; your hair in long golden curls, bouncing with every step, and your father at your side trying to hold back his tears, while the two of you are gracefully walking towards your soon to be husband. As you are walking down the aisle looking into the eyes of your soon to be husband, you realize he is not that great looking, his personality is not friendly, and he is so hateful to all of your family members that you’re the only one who enjoys his company. At this moment in time, you realize that he is not your ideal husband. You wanted your husband to be good looking, have a personality that is irresistible, and you want him to be very family oriented.

Tall, dark, and handsome is a saying that you may have heard about a “good looking” man. I would like for my ideal husband to be tall, preferably over six foot five. The reason I would like such a tall guy is because I am short, five foot two and having a taller man would make up for my shortness. I would also like my husband to have a little bit of meat on him, so when I cook food he is not worried about his weight. This will give me more flexibility with my cooking. In order for my husband to be ideal, he would have to have a nice dress style. In order for him to have a good dress style he will have to dress preppy which includes: polo’s, rainbows, and Ralph Lauren clothes. Anything that Abercrombie models wear would be an excellent ideal husband for me. Something else that would attribute a good looking man would be a man that has a great personality.

To me, a great personality must contain a person who is reliable and passionate. By being reliable he needs to be ten or fifteen minutes early to everything. The reason I feel that my husband should be early to everything is so that everyone will know that he is a reliable person and also just in case he is late; people, especially his employers, will know that it was for a good reason and not just because he is a lazy person. Also I would want my husband to be reliable financially. I am not a “gold digger” but I feel like in order for me to be happy my husband should be able to support himself and his family, although I would be helping him work. An example on why I would want him to be financially stable is because my father always had things coming up with my brother and I, and his money would never stay in his bank account. In life things come up and it’s easier to have two salaries helping pay things, than one salary and a part time job. A man must also be reliable emotionally. All sorts of things in life happen, and for me I always need some one there to lean on. It is not easy when you are going through a hard time and your husband is being rude about things. I feel like he needs to be sympathetic and helpful with some situations such as: deaths with animals or humans, kids growing up, surgeries, and just sometimes breakdowns. Trust is something else that is needed in a husband. If you do not trust someone how can you expect to live with them, and them knowing all of your bank accounts and things like that. My mother lived in a marriage where both of them did not trust the other and it tore them apart; sure they loved each other but sometimes love and passion is just not enough.

Passion is loving something with more than your heart; you should also love it with your soul. Many people say that they are passionate for dogs; this means that they would do anything for their dogs and they could never abuse or disown any kind of dog, no matter what he/she did. I would want my idyllic husband to be passionate for me. I would want him to be passionate about sex. I would not want a husband who married me just because of sex. I would not like to be a “booty call”. I would like for it to be making love instead of just screwing around. I would like for him to come home and just ravish me like they do in the movies, with slow kisses, and then just slowly making our way in to the sex scene, and then taking it slowly. This does not mean I would not like for it be spontaneous and sometimes adventurous just most of the time I would like to have passionate love, that way he shows me in a sexual way that our love is still as young as it was when we first started. But I would also like my model husband to passionate in other ways such as being passionate about his job. I would want him to always want to go to work and not complain about how he hates his job. This would cause a lot of relief in the household, because people who like their jobs tend to move up on the ladder a whole lot faster than the people who do not like their jobs. Another way that he could show his passion is by being family oriented.

When I am married I would ideally like to have five kids, if not more. Therefore he would want to have lots of kids and be fond of kids also. So being family oI had to do an essay on my ideal husband and I need help revising? can you help?
looks good babe, i thought it was pretty good.

I had to do a essay on my ideal husband but i need to make revisions like grammatical and anything that you...?

think needs to be added or cut out just let me know thanks.

Lovely dream. Good for you for having high standards.

I would break it into more paragraphs and split up some of the long sentences.

Remember this rule. If it starts with a prepositional phrase like your second to last sentence add a comma after the phrase. I have done this and shortened it by taking out unnecessary words.

When I am married, I want to have five or more kids. He would be fond of children and want to have many also.

Also try to avoid starting all the sentences with I or this. You can do this by rearranging sentences like I have done below.

Always going to work, he would not complain about his job. If he does this, then he would cause relief at home and move up the corporate ladder faster. Delete than the the people who do not like their jobs.

    Hope this helps. Best wishes.

  • My sister is being a major MOH-zilla, what do I do?

My sister is really frustrated about my wedding. Her first marriage ended in divorce, after which she plunged into a new relationship with a guy that, after 3 years, seems to have no interest in marrying her, despite her insistence that he's going to propose (I'm not going to go into why I'd be surprised if he ever does propose, but for an example he told her a year and a half ago that after he won this one race (he's a race car driver) he was going to propose to her in the winner's circle - he won, no proposal). So even though she wants to be my MOH (and I want her to be, she's my only sister), she's really frustrated about the fact that I have a fiance, a house, and am getting all the things she wants out of her life but can't seem to get. So she's starting to go all MOH-zilla on me!

Now, when she got married the first time, I was her MOH and I did whatever she told me to do - wore the dress she wanted, got my hair done the way she liked, etc. I didn't complain about anything. I felt my job was to help her plan and get ready for her big day. But it seems like now she's trying to make my wedding day about her! We go to the same beauty salon, and the girl who does both our hair for cuts and coloring, and so on, is the one I'm going to have do my hair and makeup. Almost as soon as I mentioned that I was going to have this girl do my hair and makeup, she's like, ';I want to go to Linda (our stylist), I don't like how anybody else there does my hair.'; And said it in a really snotty way, like how dare I, the bride, have first dibs on the stylist.

Then she emails me a link to her bridesmaid wish lists at Alfred Angelo and David's Bridal about two days after I got engaged, before we'd even finalized a date, to show me which dresses she liked. None of them did anything for me, and none would even look good on her! The one dress I've seen so far that I know I really like she insists that she can't wear it because it'll make her look like a whale and I must want to pick that one so that everybody else in the bridal party looks good except her. Oh, and she also hates my gown and says the style is ugly (which it's not, just that she has different tastes than me).

    So today we went to a bridal show, and we're walking around and I'm signing up for the free drawings and picking up brochures (because free stuff is awesome and I wanted to get some ideas) and she's like, ';You don't want to do that. You don't want to have that. I don't like that.';

To top this all off, we got the DJ she wanted us to get because the DJ company employs one of her boyfriend's friends, so we did it out of courtesy to him (not that he's going to get up and dance at the reception). Plus, I was mentioning how my fiance wasn't sure who to ask as his fourth groomsman in case my best friend, who is sick with leukemia, gets the green light from her doctor to participate, and how if he couldn't come up with another friend that I would suggest him asking my friend's husband, and my sister's like, ';Why would you do that, why wouldn't he want to invite his future brother in law?'; Meaning her boyfriend, to whom she is not engaged and whom we don't know that well, and whom my fiance doesn't really like that much.

I'm afraid that this is making me sound like a bridezilla, but I really haven't been. I've told her that it's my day, that she got to pick what she wanted for her wedding so I should be able to get what I like for mine, that I didn't see why I couldn't have the color and dress style that I like. And she's like, ';Well that color looks terrible on me and that dress is ugly,'; and so on. She's been really bitchy about pretty much every aspect of my wedding that I've shared with her so far. I don't know what to do.My sister is being a major MOH-zilla, what do I do?
I would just go ahead with the things you want for the wedding. If she continues to act this way I would calmly tell her ';I'm going to try and explain this to you one last time. When you got married you made yout choices on how you wanted your wedding. This is my turn and hopefully my one and only wedding and I want to look back at this day and remember it was exactly what I dreamed it would be. If you do get married again you are free to choose any colour and style dress you like, but for now, this is the dress and the colour scheme I am going with.'; that way you are telling her this is your wedding without being rude about it. Wanting to choose things for your wedding is not being a bridezilla. Wanting to choose everything for someone elses wedding is.My sister is being a major MOH-zilla, what do I do?
Your wedding your decisions to make not hers
Your wedding day is YOUR day! You make all the choices that you want. Do not let anyone run over you. Sit down and talk with her and let her know how you feel and then if she keeps it up i would replace her in the wedding party.
She sounds like the type of person that loves attention and needs it..

She wants to make everything about her.

ignore it. If her comments aren't constructive tell her to shut up.

Everything is up to you NOT her.

Tell her she doesn't help when she's being difficult.
perhaps she doesn't know she is hurting your feelings. try talking to her. if that doesn't work tell her what you need and want her to do.
My suggestion is to write her a letter if you can't sit down with her. Tell her that you feel very hurt that she can't just be happy for you and be supportive. Instead, all she does is *****, complain and discourage.

I have a sister just like that. Basically, both your sister and mine are bitter women that want the world to center around them and their misery. My sister can suck the joy out of even minor happy events. The difference is that my sister does it all the time, not just because I'm planning a wedding. My suggestion is to simply eliminate her from further planning. I can understand why it would be difficult to eliminate her as MOH, but at least you can minimize further contact unless there is reason to absolutely require her attendance and input. If she doesn't pull this crap around your mother, try to have your mom present.

  • For Ladies: What do you think about a guy like me?

I've asked this question once before, but I would like to ask it one more time for some more replies so I can get a better picture of opinions. Thanks in advance.

So, I've always been commented for the way I dress, my personality, intelligence, and so on but I've never committed myself to a real relationship with anyone in particular and so I've always been curious as to how a woman really feels about someone like me and if it is appealing or am I just best friend material.

If I had to classify myself I would say that I was somewhat ';metrosexual';, a bit of a nerd, ambitious, humorous but not a class clown, conservative morals.

';Metrosexual'; - So yes, I do care how my appearance and my hygiene quite a bit. I was raised in a traditional family so my dressing style has always been preppy, some would say classy, others would say on the verge of homosexual. By metrosexual I mean I do care about how I dress, how my hair looks, I use hair products, facial cleansers, cologne. I try my best to keep clean鈥擨 am slightly a neat freak鈥攁nd stay fresh, I follow a nutrition plan and work out at the gym. But I am not extreme, I do not get manicures and pedicures.

For reference purposes, I usually dress along the lines of the items on this website, minus the blazars and jackets which would be for particular occasions:

    http://style.ralphlauren.com/askralph/me鈥?/a>

but I do also dress casually in, say, a polo and jeans and sneakers.

Nerd %26amp; Ambitious - One of the most important goals of mine is to get into Harvard Medical School and become a plastic surgeon, followed by getting an MBA from Harvard Business School. I envision a life helping others and hopefully having time to spend some summers in 3rd world countries to donate money and participate in humanitarian aid groups. I am not ashamed of spending hours studying, volunteering, interning, but I know how to have fun, although I would prefer playing sports to binge drinking and random sex (although I've had my fair share of drinking games).

Humorous - I would say I am a light hearted humorous person but I am not the class clown and I can be serious but funny depending on the situation.

Conservative morals - I'm not the type of person who will get shitfaced the night before class nor am I into random hook ups. I am not attracted to ';hot'; girls but would rather use beautiful, pretty, or gorgeous, I don't know if this makes sense. My sense of fun is probably different from a lot of college students, I would rather go sailing, sitting by the fireplace, sitting on a train going through the fields of tuscany, visiting the luvre, or sitting down by the sand watching the sunset than to go to a party.

I appreciate nature, luxury cars, art, architecture, furniture (particularly victorian and french). I enjoy cooking, a typical activity associated with women. I occupy a lot of my time playing sports and working out. I do enjoy simple things such as movies, hanging out here and there, going to the pool, whatever, but I prefer doing big exciting or adventurous activities.

So, I know I wrote a lot, but what would a woman feel about someone like me? In addition, what would a college woman feel about a person like me?

For those who have wise comments such as suggesting that I am too much of a pansy to find a woman: I've never been in a committed relationship because I've never met someone that had the same criteria or someone I felt really matched. It's not like I have never had the chance to get into a relationship if I had the desire to do so.

For Ladies: What do you think about a guy like me?
This may sound a little strange, but you are prince charming!

I've always wondered what people think of me,too, because I,myself,am very much like you.At my school, most of the students also prefer hook-ups and drinking almost every weekend.I'm not so into such past-times,in all honesty,I dislike it so much.I would, too, rather enjoy the activities you've listed. It's been quite hard for me, also,to find a gentleman that appreciates activities such as sailing, cooking, picnics, etc. It is hard to find someone as sophisticated and intelligent as you are and I'm sorry, and surprised, that you haven't found a lady that appreciates you.I respect how passionate you are about Harvard very much,I'm sure you'll accomplish your dream. My dream is getting into Princeton and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.I love volunteering, too! It's certainly lovely that we have so much in common.Bottom line,I don't think you should be concerned about who you are,I'm sure you'll find someone who appreciates you soon.I just cannot believe that you haven't,considering how lovely you are.Best of Luck to you with Harvard, the good life, love, and just about anything that the tide could bring :)For Ladies: What do you think about a guy like me?

That doesn't really look like the setting of a VV store? Not to be weird or anything, but do you have that whale painted in your room or something? If so, that is ridiculously awesome.

Oh hey, since you've been in the Georgetown area have you seen the rows of small townhouses? I think they're simply amazing. Relatively small, and some even have deteriorating brick and stone walls but they are so nicely decorated with flowers, plants, and have very unique colonial details!

Yeah, Georgetown is spectacular, I like the Tyson's Corner area too, especially Tyson's II / Galleria, but Georgetown is so much more exciting walking down the streets as opposed to inside the buildings. You've been to that VV, too? Wow, how ironic!

    Guarenteed

    Goodnight =)
i like the fact that you care about your appereance and hygiene. I will never date a guy that doesnt take showers daily or brushes his teeth thats just gross. And I hate how guys leave their houses dirty. I like how you dress too its casual and not sloppy at all. And I want to be a surgeon too. So thats good that you want to go to college. Funny is good too. Any girl would like a guy to make her smile when shes sad. I loved the part (Conservative morals) the most!. When I want to go on a date to the mountains or To a river. Guys don't want to. I never liked pearties my whole life. Especially beacuse I don't know how to dance. But other then that it's just insignificant. I hate it when people use words like hot or sexy . I like words like gorgeous, ravishing, pulchritudinous, splendid, exquisite. I love the way that you cook. I know how to bake :) I think a college woman would be so into you. Your a wise man. You are really mature. And so many girls would want to have an engaged relatioship with you. And I dont think any one should say that your too pansy to find a woman or whatsoever because every girl likes a different type of guy.

Wow, you sound like a great guy. ';A college woman'; is a pretty broad term. It could apply to a ';hot'; platinum blonde, tanorexic lush; or to a lesbian, or any female college student. haha. You are a man of specific tastes who requires a very specific woman. I think a man of your caliber would be quite the catch. From a college woman's perspective. Although the metrosexual thing would take some getting used to. I think most women appreciate all aspects of gender differences in a relationship.....so as long as you have enough manly traits, you're super-hygiene and fashion sense shouldn't be a problem. And you certainly don't sound like a pansy. Let me ask you this, can you kill a spider using minimal toilet paper? Do you find it awkward to sit with your legs closely crossed? Do you enjoy grilling your own food outside? If you answered yes to all of these, then you are indeed a man. Or a butch lesbian.
Sounds wonderful but too good to be true? Glad to hear about the good hygiene part. j'adore le musee du louvre. Il y a beacoup des ouvres d'art!

For ladies: What would you think of a guy like me?
I'm going to be honest, and am NOT judging you as a person, but based on my personal taste.

At first glance, I would find you to be an ambitious and very smart person that I could maybe be professional/casual friends with, but would find a tad bit boring as a life partner. I like guys that are down to earth and really funny, and from your detailed description, I can't envision casually cracking open a beer and laughing like crazy to Simpsons reruns with you.

You seem like a gentle person, but I feel there'd always be something intimidating about the standards you set for yourself (after all, such high expectations for yourself sets the bar for your partner as well).

You should realize, though, that MANY MANY girls would LOVE to have a guy like you. After all, it's rather obvious you are fully capable of providing a stable future (household, family, etc) and have a very giving and caring personality. I just personally am never attracted to ambitious metros, and this post was a partial summation of why that is.

    Hahhahahahahahhahahahha fag.

No wonder you've never been in a relationship.

Grow some balls and stop being such a pussy.

Ladies: I feel as though I am two people. (Beware: very long, a serious read)?

I had posted a version of this question awhile ago while I was still a high school student, but now as I am a college student much has changed. Yet, at times I feel that rather than truly changing I have adopted two different personalities that at certain times clash. What I was before and what I am now is quite a dilemma. So my question is, how do you feel about me before, how do you feel about me now, and how do you think I should integrate my characteristics together? *[Info in brackets indicate me now]*

So, I've always been commented for the way I dress, my personality, intelligence, and so on but I've never really found that special person who can keep me interested. Sure people come and go, but there always seems to be a lack of that one girl that I can stick with.

I would say I dress between a mix of classic, traditional preppy and urban lifestyle preppy. By metrosexual I mean I do care about how I dress, how my hair looks, I use hair products, facial cleansers, cologne. I try my best to keep clean擨 am slightly a neat freak攁nd stay fresh, I follow a nutrition plan and work out at the gym. But I am not extreme, I do not get manicures and pedicures. I do occasionally pick up a copy of Men's Health, Gentlemen's Quarterly, or Vogue.

[The past year I have been slacking up much more in my dress code. Because of the college environment I often find myself dressed in sweat pants, a tee, and tennis shoes, but at the same time I continue to dress the way I did before. It troubles some of my friends as they wonder why the drastic difference from day to day and remind me that ';dressing up'; (which to me is not) is not normal in college. I feel as though I lose a part of myself and my integrity when I dress so poorly.]

Nerd %26amp; Ambitious - One of the most important goals of mine is to get into Harvard Medical School and become a cosmetic surgeon, followed by getting an MBA from Harvard Business School. [My goals stay the same, but being introduced to the college life as a Freshman I have turned much more into the party boy I did not envision myself as. I find myself going to the bars, frat parties, house parties, etc. on the weekends and occasionally Thursdays and Fridays. I have become much more social than before and have been encountering situations that come along with the active nightlife that I did not want to happen before. Regardless I am somewhat enjoying this new mixture of study and play. Unfortunately, at the same time it is taking away from my time to just have some ';me'; time or to participate in other activities.]

Humorous - I would say I am a light hearted humorous person but I am not the class clown and I can be serious but funny depending on the situation. [I have dramatic changed from being subtle in humour to being very outspoken in any situation and being a comedian when I can. Don't get me wrong, I do not act like an idiot, but I do bring the fun whenever I can. As before, I would be more or less on the sidelines.]

[These morals have been troubling me lately. As mentioned I have been partying and going out and encountering everything that comes along with that. Essentially looking at this I have broken many of my morals, but emotionally now it is a mixture of liking what I am doing and yet wanting to stick to my beliefs.]

I appreciate nature, luxury cars, art, architecture, furniture (particularly victorian and french). I greatly enjoy cooking, a typical activity associated with women. I occupy a lot of my time playing sports and working out. I do enjoy simple things such as movies, hanging out here and there, going to the pool, whatever, but I prefer doing big exciting or adventurous activities. Going to college is a drastic change in environments and with that comes the need for adaptation. That doesn't mean you have to change who you are but chances are you will end up different in some way because of the experiences you have. As far as the dressing - If it's something you enjoy and value then you should continue to do so. You may find, however, that your values change. You seem like a very ambitious person and your goals are commendable but I feel like they need to be more focused. It is great that you want to go into surgery and business but have you thought about what that entails? You don't just become a surgeon, you have to do four years of medical school followed by at least four more years of residency and specialization. When you become a doctor, especially a surgeon, you commit your life to it. I'm not saying your ambitions are impossible, I just hope you know what you are getting into. And the drinking and partying, I also fell into that scene when I first got to school. It is something that, in high school, I never envisioned myself in. But it is an experience nonetheless and it's fine that you are having fun and becoming more outgoing. College is a time to find yourself and even redefine yourself into the person you want to be. Almost everyone goes through periods in their life where they lose faith or change their beliefs in something. Drinking and partying in college is almost like a right of passage, but as long as you don't get too crazy with it and don't lose sight of your goals it's not a big deal.

You may feel like you are two different people at the moment, but you are really just in a transitional phase of your life. And hopefully you will come out of it heading in the right direction. Best of luck.Ladies: I feel as though I am two people. (Beware: very long, a serious read)?
I couldn't finishing reading it man, sorry.
    You sound nice :)

It's just the environment you're in that shapes/affect you in some way.

You might want to take a step back, consolidate your thoughts, think about what you want yourself to be before getting overwhelmed by things you find is against your morals.
i think this is more of a discussion you need to have with someone than a question someone can answer. i didnt finish reading it all but just enjoy being your own person. you can be two ppl if you want, nothings wrong with two personalites
