How soon should I?

I am about to get married and i am so confused over the time scale of everything. I mean...when should i choose my dress style? when should i get fitted? when should i book the reception hall? when should i book the flowers? when should i choose/fit my bridesmaids? what do i do if i want to get married in a garden? when should i order all the food/drink? when should we sort all the suits out? when should i do all the invites? when should i get the stationary sorted? when should i do the seating plan? there is so much i haven't even covered everything. I NEED help with this...i DO NOT want to mess this up!How soon should I?
Dress Style = 6-8 months before wedding

Dress Fittings = 2-3 months before

Reception Hall = at least 1 year depending on location and availability

Flowers = 6 months

Bridesmaids = Choose now/Fit 2 months before

Order food and drinks = 4 months before

Suits/Tuxedos = 2 months before

Invitations = choose/Proofread/Print=3 months before mail = 6-7 weeks before wedding

Seating plan = 4-5 weeeks before (as you get the RSVPs back)

Now if you want a garden wedding you may want to check the weather reports of previous years whereever you're getting married, is it rainy season or windy season. Look for a location you want and always make sure you have tents rented just in case you need to use them.How soon should I?

Here's a 12 month breakdown of what to do when

http://www.theknot.com/ch_article.html?O
I would at least have things ordered in advance so you will know what you have and don't have like maybe 3 months in advance as far as the food i would make sure it's ordered and ready for that day about a month a head incase you need to order more and it's ready by the time you need it. as as far as the invites maybe a month to 2 months a head so all those people your inviteing will know and not have plans. As far as were to get married thats something you need to figure out on your own a garden wedding would be nice and very pretty as well. if your planing on getting married soon then you need to be decideing your bridesmaids now. give your self time and if it's going to be a soon wedding then I would be getting on the ball of things .. WISH you luck.
You want to book the site about 6 months in advance, especially if it's a popular place. Pick out the dresses now, but you don't have to actually order them until about 8-12 weeks before the wedding. You don't want a fitting until about 2-3 weeks before the wedding, incase you lose/gain weight, and the same for your bridesmaids. The suits I'd say order about the same time as the dresses. The flowers you can wait til closer to the wedding, maybe a month or two in advance. The invites you want to send out about 2 months before the wedding so out of town guests can make plans to come down (take time off of work and whatnot). You should have the seating plan finished a few days before the wedding (since you won't know for sure who's going to come until you get all the RSVP cards back). That's just what I think. But if you go to http://www.theknot.com and sign up they have a little checklist for everything you need to do. You just put in the date, and then it gives you a month by month checklist. I hope this helps you out a little!
Buy some bridal magazines they all have time tables in them. Also it depends on where you live. On the East Coast you have to book some venues 2 years in advance, heck some of the university chapels are booked 5 years in advance. I'm sure you won't have that problem. Take a deep breath this is easy. I've done it three times now - my wedding, my brother's wedding and my vow renewal. I never used a wedding planner but it might be a good idea for you if you're getting really stressed.
Calm down....first how long is your engagement?? If you have a long time to plan, take your time. Start emailing reception sites...get some basic info on them and then meet with them and pick your site...same with your photographer....start early just geting info. I found that once the big stuff was outta the way I was a lot less stressed. I think they say to order your dress about six months out, but again start looking early. The sooner you get some stuff done the better. Bridesmaids shouldn't be that hard....when you have a date set then ask them. I know i've seen it on here a dozen times, but theknot.com really does have some excellent tips as far as timing and when to do what.

Good Luck and Congratulations.....relax it will all be fine :)
